Actually it is a .030 over bore

Nothing wrong with sbc engines. Built rite they are reliable, make plenty of HP.

Buddy of mine had a 327 old double hump head with good valves, valve job in them, in a 70 nove, would run low 12's high 11's all the time, twist it to 7k on a regular.

Id either run a 350 or a 383.

I don't think the 5 extra cubes is worth the trouble.

It's not the extra cubes as much as it un-shrouds the intake valve for a little more efficient air flow. But with the overbore you must decrease your chamber size on your cylinder head to keep your compression ratio the same. But I still live by the rule " no replacement for displacement". Don't believe me ? Check out Sonny Lennards Godfather!

The intake manifold will kill anything from 4500 on or so....... Plus you are limited with the stock 19 pph poppets. You will run out of air before you run out of fuel though. Westers sells 30 pph poppets but the intake manifold is still a terrible design with the entire fuel injection system in with the air stream. You can get a Vmax spacer to lift the entire upper plenum an inch.... but I would just save pennies for a marine. That and the PCM is limited to 5900 rpm no matter what you set the rev limiter to if you care. An 0411 swap along with a marine intake should be in your budget.
