Default 3 inch vs. 2.5 inch dual exhaust

I am having a delima on what size exhaust to run on my 5.3 swap. I am using 2000 - 2002 fbody manifolds and it is gonna be hard to run a full 3" exhaust off of the manifolds.

My question is: Being i am probably gonna have to run 2 1/2" dual exhaust dumped infront of the axle, and the 5.3 is basically stock(but will be getting heads cam, and headers withing the new year), will 2 1/2" dual exhaust be sufficient?

Sorry for the rambling guys, but i just want to get all i can out of the 5.3

Thanks,
Ryan

I think a single 2.5 ofr y pipe into a 3 inch single exhaust is sufficent to support any amount of power an NA 5.3 can make. If your going with an adder Id go with the duals other than that I think its overkill and in certain scenarious might actuall hurt power under the curve.

If you are wanting duals, 2.5" will be fine even with the mods!!

These gen III motors like some backpressure therefore the 2.5 would work just fine as long as you arent pushing over 700hp. (i quoted this from the exhaust guy giving me a pricequote after i did my headers. I asked him the same question)

yes. 2.5" tubing will be more than sufficient for a dual system.
