that sounds like a good thing...how can i tell what head i have. what casting number should i look for, and where?

dang im retarded with this v8 stuff. been building turbo 4's for too long i guess

... maybe not all 243's are created equal (?)... I have a set of of 02 Z06 heads that have "5.7" casted into the bottom of one of the runners. Not sure what that means... and whether or not the LS2's have the "exact" casting... let alone the truck motors. Good runners... D ports... not sure whats changed, if anything, over this "243" casting life...

on the head there are numbers. look onpassenger side and youll see the number under the oil filler

z06/ls6 heads have the better hollow, lightweight valves.
other 243's have regular valves.

those numbers indicate the displacment. my L92s said 6.2. my 317s said 6.0 my 243s said 5.7. the Ls7s i picked up said 7.0

along with that youll usually see the year

also dont forget they are longer. when using a true Ls6 head different push rods are needed [depending on cam]

you could have the typical stock casting which im not sure it is on 4.8s. and i think 5.3s are 853 and 706

Agreed... I don't know what the "243's" have casted on the bottom the LS2 heads... let alone the 4.8 AND 5.3 heads that GM decided to put these heads on top of now...

All I know is I got the NINJA valves... hehehehe ... wondering if I should upgrade to Inconel exhaust... Sodium filled should be fine... hell, I don't know
