Why do you say not to mill the 243's?

I know this is an old thread, but I would like to know if putting the ls6 intake on my 5.3 will take away from my tq gain.

I also have been wondering about a head swap...I'm staying na so just the stock 243s should do well right? The 243s with the ls6 intake should produce good results right?

As far as a boosted set up I would agree to atleast keep stock compression for around town torque, unless it is a all out track racer.

For N/A I'm preparing to add 799's (243's) to my 5.3 and am going to have them milled atleast .030 to get compression just back by the stock compression. Will be fine tuning with gaskets to get what I need. Just don't forget to take into account the gasket width in your math.

I believe the truck intake will produce the best torque in heavier vehicles and the ls6 intake for lighter high end power.

How would stock 243/799's do on a 5.3 if they were machined to keep the 5.3's factory compression ratio?
