Default 2006 ls vs 2010 ls compatibility.

I have a 2006 Silverado with a 4.8. Recently I've been having trouble with the motor and I've decided to buy a used low mileage motor from LKQ instead of repairing the old one. I also wanted to upgrade to the 5.3. But most low mileage motors that I've found are from 2010 and up. Will there be compatibility issues with the electronics if I do this? Would switching a 2006 with a 2010 or later be worth doing? If not what year am I limited to? Thanks

GEN 4 motor are also 58x crank triggers. Your GEN 3 motor and computer are 24x, so it could not run it. You'd have to swap reluctor wheels on the crank or buy one of those converter box thingys that cost a lot of money.

Like said, a 2010 motor with be DoD/VVT so you'd have to buy even more parts to delete all that stuff. Cam sensor is in a different location, knock sensors are in totally different locations. Custom wiring and tuning will be required and make it not worth the hassle to me.

Purchase a GEN 3 5.3 motor to make your life way easier.
