2001 tahoe 5.3 to 6.0

i need to replace to 5.3 in my 2001 tahoe, so why not upgrade to the 6.0? so my question is do i need the computer for the 6.0 or can i use the stock computer in my tahoe that "ran" the 5.3 and it will "run" the 6.0 as well?

It will need a tune for the 6.0. But the computer from the 5.3 should work.

I have a 2002 GMC Sierra truck with a 4.8L Vortec V8 in it now i am looking to swap that out for a vortec 6.0l lq9 or lq4. I've heard everything will bolt right up and all my computers will work (after flashing computer) i have also heard that i need to find the 6.0 out of a certain year make and model vehicle to make sure everything will swap right over easily.

I need help with what vehicle year make and models have the correct 6.0L in them to correctly swap with my 4.8L ... please lay some knowledge on me so i can find the correct motor and start making some real power!

Thanks

The early 6.0's had iron heads and a crank end that will only mount up to a 4L80E, i know 99' for sure is this but might be 00-01 also. Just look for an 03' up and you will be fine. The later engines have the 317 alum heads and only the flexplate needs changed to run a 4L60E .Good luck.

I wonder how one will run with a 6.2

The 2001 thru 2007 Classic model truck 6.0L’s all have the 317 casting aluminum heads, short crank for use with a 60E and a 24-tooth reluctor wheel.

Only the 1999 & 2000 models have the iron heads and long crank.
