2001 5.3 to 6.0
#1
I want to know how hard it would be to take my 5.3 and turn it into a 6.0L and what would be the best heads to use on this motor. Does anyone have any comments on this and would it be expensive to convert.

Take out the 5.3 and insert a 6.0. They are different motors almost entirely. The block, pistons, heads, etc... are different. They are based on the same design, but unless you tear it down, bore and stoke it, it will be easier to just swap them out. Check your local dealer and see if they are doing any 6.0 replacment due to warranty. See if you can strike a deal for the core motor and rebuild it. Or buy a new Escalade 6.0, they are the highest HP rated of the 6.0.

you can find great deals on used one's if you are willing to take some time looking, stay with a 01 or newer so you get the good heads. i paid $1500 for an 02 out of a denali delivered and i have seen them go for under $1000

yes i am talking about going to aluminum but i think there are other diferences than just aluminum, check this out http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/jason99...6liter_ls6.jpg
i can't really say how good the older heads are but the 2001 up 6.0 heads sure do flow well.
