Default 2.2 rebuild

Well my dads 2.2 took a **** a few weeks ago and I think the cheapest route to take is for me to rebuild it assuming the cylinders are good.
I've seen some rebuild kits on Ebay that go for around $600 but I'm kinda skeptical on if those will last. I know the 2.2 doesn't make much power so it doesn't need any high priced parts but I've never done a complete rebuild before.

Would you trust an Ebay rebuild kit for a 2000 2.2? Any companies you'd recommend buying a kit from?

Thanks.

And yes. I would LOVE to drop a 5.3 in it but that is not financially an option.

I know. but you need 5.3 4l60, harness, motor mounts, oil pan or notch and much more for the swap.

I found a rebuild kit for the 2.2 for 573 with new lifters and head bolts so I may go that route after I check the block over.
