Default 1986 shortbed

well fellas, i decided to let my 01 ext cab be on hold for awhile as far as performance wise, its a lil bit to heavy, ima be getting a 1986 chevy picckup shortbed in a week and i want to drop a new motor in there, only thing is i cant decide what size motor i want to go with, i just want a few suggestions from yall, see what yall think, lemme know fellas thx

i put a 5.3 a4 in my 1981 short bed. its pretty wicked, and was relatively easy.

Drop in a 454 w/ a TH400. Probably cheaper than a stroker (383 or 406) and huge potential aka torque. Performance parts are also pretty cheap for the BBCs.

If your not looking for too much power (and very little MPG)... then a nicely built 350 w/ a TH350 should work great. Probably the most reliable combo you can get.
