Default 180 Power Stat Running at 195?

I Installed 180 Power Stat, I don't know if I did something wrong, but it heats up to around 180 for about 2 minutes then goes back up to 195, and never goes back down to 180. I thought maybe I had air pockets, so I completly drain coolant and refilled, but still does it. What is wrong!

I've got the 160 degree thermostat and it runs at about 175 according to the dash gauge. I thought somebody said the gauge wasn't accurate. Can anybody back me up on that?

this has been a thread many times look it up and you will get more info. but the guage on the dash just tells you cold, ok, and very hot. not a true temp guage.

The number on the thermo tells you at what temp the thing starts to open.

A 160* stat will start opening at 160, but noe be fully open until some higher number, say 175. So your 180 starts opening at 180 then reaches ~195 when fully open.

Test it. Stick it in a pan of hot water on the range. Use a thermometer and increase heat. Watch the stat open and look at the temp.

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I guess I did it right then. I think I am going to look into electric fans.
