I think they're 195's, I also think I was wrong about the Camaros and Vettes coming with 180's, pretty sure they're 195's too. Anybody have any more info on this?

yeah, the auto parts store near you should be able to tell you what t-stat came in any car or truck you'd want to know about. they can tell you the temp and if the part is the same number. most of them can cross reference by part # and tell you every car or truck that shares the same t-stat. e

my 160stat runs right at 175 on the scan tool.

this was on 2 diferent nights but the same temp so take it for what it is worth.

stock 4.8 16.4sec
stock 4.8 with 100shot 13.9sec

add efans and 160stat 15.9
with 100shot 13.4sec

Quote: I pretty much have my mind set on the 180* stat, I think 160* is just a little cool for a fuel injected daily driver in New Jersey....gets pretty frickin cold here in the winter. With the factory 195* stat I consistently run between 197-199* degrees. Today it was 90* and humid, saw 203* for a second while beatin the snot out of it, then leveled out at 197* again.

I was checking out some Camaros and Corvettes at the track today, and the T-stat housing looks the same. Don't those cars come from the factory with 180* stats? If so, does anybody have the part numbers?
I have a 160* stat that i put on in the middle of the winter here in VA and this last snow storm was bad

I work at a local oreilly auto parts, and the one that we sell as a "stock replacement" is a 185 actually. It has the numbers stamped inside the bottom of it incase anyone wants one just a little bit colder. It is also only $20 and the part # is 37987 murray brand.
