Default 160 t-stat

I see a lot of people running a 160* t-stat, Is it a good mod on a full bolt on truck, make any power etc?

I don't think it is worth it unless you have e-fans and can re-tune for the lower temp. Even then I don't think the gain is much more than piece of mind. Just my opinion.

They all have thermostats(from the factory that is). The 05 and up have a separate thermostat. The 99-04 have the stat built into the waterneck housing and it is replaced as a unit. Its located where your lower radiator hose connects to the water pump. Hope this helps.

I just got a thermo, no housing, it fit right in. '03 and up you just need to buy the thermo, older years you need to get the thermo and the housing, hopefully that pertains to an avalanch, but i would imagine it does. I would first buy a stat and see if it goes in, if it doesn't you should go back and order the correct housing for whatever stat you end up with.

Nope...you'll lose a little bit when you disconnect the hose from the t'stat housing, but that's it.
