Default 14 Silverado 5.3 oil change

Hello, My 14 Silverado only has 11k on it. The oil changes have been performed at the dealership.
I wish to change it myself and wanted to be sure as to how many quarts to get and what weight?
The manual calls for 0w40. Unsure as to what to use.
Thank You

Are you sure it said 0W40?

The oil cap says 0W20 on those trucks and you need 8 quarts of oil plus a filter.

If you own a 2011 or newer GM vehicle, you must use a motor oil that meets GM's dexos specifications to maintain that vehicle's warranty. There are some exceptions. The dexos specification applies to most, but not all, GM vehicles model year 2011 or later. DEXOS should be on the bottle

Everything synthetic meets or exceeds dexos ratings now and 0W20 only comes in synthetic.

0-20 is necessary and I think all 0-20 is dexos approved as only 0-20 is synthetic.

0w20 is under no circumstances necessary... Gm uses it in the trucks for a tiny nearly immeasurable bump in fuel economy. You can run 5w30, 0w30, 10w30 or whatever.. it will do just fine

Wouldn't agree with the above. Newer motors are tighter clearance and I def would
run the Factory recommendation. Oil is cheap, $40 for 6 qts of Mobile 1 at your local
Sams Club.
