Default 12 sec ec 2wd silvy

whats it going to take to get an extended cab 2wd silverado 1500 in the 12s. how much hp, what mods. intake,exhaust(do i need longtubes or can i get the hp somewhere else),tune(which one does the best),cam(220/112 ???), e-fans, fuel pump?, nitrous(i've seen alot of 150 shot trucks, but its probly gonna take a 200 to run 12s will it?), shift kit?, tc?, drag radials, gears? am i missing anything, or is it going to take more to run 12s. haven't bought a silverado yet i'm just playing it out and looking into it and seeing if its worth it before i buy a truck. right now i drive a 99 f250 superduty psd with a 8" lift and 37s.

Nelson Tune.... 150 shot..... 3000 Stall Converter..... Slicks....... Nice Size Cam.... Heads..... Walbro Fuel Pump.....STS or Radix or Procharger.... I dont see why you wouldnt be in the 12's easy.....

Of course all of the accessories that go with these mods.....

You better be ready to spend ALOT of money...

Ive put almost 5000 in mine and Im running a 15.09 @ 91.2 (of course thats with a small cam)

i have run 12's on my set up with a 150 shot o juice. my mods should be a good indication of what it will take. and that was thru a 4l80 and a 60e. good luck. and that is with bolt ons and a cam.

You could run 12's with just a tune, free flowing catback, intake, 3000 stall, slicks, and a 175-200 shot.

I hope to hit high 12s in my ex cab 5.3 one of these days. It will be with boltons/3kstall/cam/125 wet shot/eaton posi, plus the built transmission, without the tranny it would probably be ok.... once.

Definantly get a good tuner, preferably a reputable local tuner, but if there's no one local, then find a sponser that does mail order tunes. A well mathced cam and heads combo with some good headers and nice exhaust work should get you close. You would need a converter, shiftkit and at the very least the G80 in the rear if not, then upgrade to an Eaton Posi. That should get you there. If not ... then a little spray should.

This all being based on a 5.3 truck.

CRAZYCUTER4.8 has run 12.6's in his 03' EC 4.8 on the following mods

LS1edit
K&N FIPK2
Flowmaster true duals and no cats
Edelbrock SHORTY headers
Comp 212/218 Cam with LS6 springs
Stock 3:73 gears with G80
Self ported TB-descreened MAF
I dont remeber if he had a 3000 or 2200 stall in
200 dry/wet shot of n20
On 15" wheels and street tires on back only

your only running 15.09 with the cam and all those mods? the best i have gotten with my mods is a 14.5 with almost no bottle pressure. hhhmmm.

well shoot if crazycutter is runnin 12.6s on street tires and a 4.8 and shorty headers(which i've heard that longtubes will get 20whp over shortys). i wonder if 11s are possible with crazycutters mods + 5.3,slicks,and longtubes. and is the 220/220-112 or the 224/224-112 cam work good with the 5.3, and is it gonna get any more power over crazycutters cam 212/218.

oh and also how reliable is spraying a 200 shot on a stock 5.3. do you have to run race gas? how long has crazycutters lasted on a 200 shot.
