112 lsa 220/220 cam swap
#1
I recently got a new cam in my 2008 4.8 single cab silverado, i was looking for a 212/218 but it wasnt in stock so i went with the smallest cam the shop offered, so i got a 112 lsa 220/220 is that too big for a 4.8? I only want to make around 460hp, i have a stock converter and i really dont want to put another stall, due to maintaining drivability since its my daily driver. Right now all i have in it is 3 inch y pipe, 1 7/8 headers, tuned with cam now. My future plans is adding a procharger, will this cam work good with the procharger? Do i have to worry about this cam screwing my engine up?

You must be boosting to get 460hp. But I don't think that cam is too big. It's a small cam. A stall would make it much better but I think a stall would make an otherwise stock setup better.

In a 4.8 a stall would be highly recommended. Typically a 220r on a 112 will need a small converter for the best performance. I used to run a 220r on a 112 in a 5.3 and the truck was a lot of fun. A buddy of mine has a 4.8 ECSB with a 220r, 3200 Circle D with 4.10 gears and even with all this its still very lazy up until around 3400-3600.
220/220 would work with boost, but there would be better cams out there IMO. Even on a 112 you will have negative overlap!
460 Horse would definitely require some boost!
