35-40 psi hot idle is the norm.

what oil weight do you use? i live in south texas where it's always in the 90s and i use 10w-40. ive never seen less than 40 psi hot idle. you could also have a weak oil pump as well.

As cold as it gets there you may be better sticking with lighter oil. Down here where it's still 80 degrees most of us generally run heavier oils hence better oil pressure. I run 15/40 synthetic diesel oil in all of my vehicles including my 6.2 vmax truck.

Wink Change your oil and filter - I was running 20 before

I noticed my VMax stopped going into V-4 AFM like it should. I didn't think too much of it because I just replaced air filter with AEM dryflow and AirRaid MIT. I thought the truck needed to "learn" the new airflow from the mods. I even began to to think these new mods were adding more load and keeping AFM from enabling. I was about to put the stock crap back in, but then I noticed oil pressure seemd low. It was hanging around 15-20psi at idle and would go to 25 if a reved engine.

My oil life was only at 80% but I changed it anyway with 10w-30 and replaced oil filter with ACDelco and voila! Oil pressure slightly north of 40 and AFM working like a charm and picked up 2mpg. I honestyly think it was the filter. It had plenty of oil and only half quart low.

Same problem in my new truck here. These high volume OE pumps are known to have the pressure relief valve hang open on a poorly deburred pump housing. I lost all oil pressure on one before... My fix will be removing dod, the lifters, and swapping the high volume unit out for a standard volume melling pump.

900 oil pans cause the lower oil Psi it's normal compared to 800 trucks

20-30 warm idle is normal with the valve in the pan

That AFM oil pan relief is supposed to be 55psi. Mine hot idles at 15psi. I took that L76 pump apart after losing pressure and found the valve stuck up in the bore.
