ok i have not been on here sence 05. i tried the search button. and have found no luck to my question that i can make sence of.
i have a 08 chevy crewcab with a 4.8 i want more towing power. i drive with my foot in the little 4.8 so it is not cutting it when i have my 4wheeler and a few other bikes in the back.
Anyway i have a guy that has done quite a few 4.8 to 6.0 swaps in the 99-06's and he said he would do mine for 1500.00 drop off turn key. i know the price is verygood for a 6.0 and the swap. but is the swap as simple as the old ones?

no its not. he probably thinks he can put in a LQ4 and go but you can't. You'll need a Gen IV engine. This includes the LY6 (iron block 6.0 from HD), L76 (aluminum block from 1500), LS2 (06+) or L92 (6.2 from denali).
The LY6 is obviously the cheapest option. The LS2 you could get just a longblock and be a easy swap. The others you'll need the intake manifold from because of different intake ports. The swap itself will be straightforward. Just need programming changes once complete. You'll also need to do something with your trans to make it handle the power.
Actually now that I think about it you'll probably need a wiring harness with any of these except the LS2. The rest all have VVT which I don't think is in your 4.8 harness.
