based on the casting numbers on my block, it was on the earliest lq9's built. I'm guessing late 01 or so.

My LQ4 is a 01 and Johns LQ9 is a 04 IIRC... And the 9's are defently beefier then my 4's. I'll try to snap a picture today..

I will be pulling apart the "05" LQ4 I picked today, up tommorrow morn now i Know how to tell if its an 05 now lol

Yea, it's no secret that the 9's got the beefier rods and teflon coated piston skirts, it's just a question of did the LQ9's have that equipment since day 1, or were the very early production LQ9's equipped with the weaker rods

To aid in this the 9 rods you got from me J were def a 02 or 03 set, not 04.. But to say the least they have been a bigger rod.. Bottom line here is that the bottom end will hold 700HP no problem if you have you **** in line.
