Default 04 ls6 crank question

I'm thinking of putting a 2004 rotating assy in my 2002 5.3 block to bring it up to 5.7 iron block. Is the ls6 crank any differant than my 5.3 crank. Is this a good move? Will it bolt right in?

5.7 bore is larger than a 5.3

The 5.3/LS1/LS6 stroke is the same. You won't gain anything by swapping cranks.

so, I can buy some new ls6 pistons and bore my block and install pistons on my rods and then figure out what to do with my heads / cam.

Get it al balanced, if you could find LS6(I believe they are the same as LS1 pistons) pistons and rods then you wouldnt need to balance otherwise the rotating assembly will need a balance too.

how about LUNATI LS-1 Flat Top Piston Part #: LS17H12SD, with my 706 heads and use my 5.3 rods? Good? too much compression? or differant heads

You are going to have a very hard time finding a forged piston with a .945 wrist pin, 99% of aftermarket pistons have the old SBC .927 wrist pin. There is no way I would go to the expense of forge pistons and not put forged rods in. PM Richard of West Coast Cylinder Head, he has a line on some good fairly inexpensive(about 350 a set) forged rods. WIth a balanced assembly with forged rods and pistons would be a sweet nitrous or FI motor, a forged 346 with a 122HH radix or 2.6L KB would give you all that low end tq that you are looking for.

Many guys putting out 1000hp on stock LS1 cranks, its with a turbo but still impressive, I dont htink you will find anyone spraying nitrous making that much on a stock crank.

I want o stay with a N/A 5.3 block, bored, ls6 style flat tops, some kind of head work if needed, maybe one of my extra cams from Lq4. Then install in a s10 extreme. Will those luanti pistons fit my rods? LUNATI LS-1 Flat Top Piston Part #: LS17H12SD
LS–1 –2cc Flat Top Piston 1.312" Compression Height 3.903" Bore. 3.622" Stroke X 6.125" Rod Length. 1.5mm–1.5mm–3m m Ring Grooves. 4032 Alloy. 10.6:1 with 67cc Head.
