Default 04 fuel system

What is this thing on top of my intake just behind the throttle body? I traced the fuel lines one goes to the fuel rail and this is the other one. I can't see how this would circulate back to the tank. As far as I can tell this truck doesn't have a fuel presure regulator. I have an 02 tahoe as well and it doesn't look anything like this.

Thanks Jason

That is the evap purge solenoid. It just vents the fuel tank fumes into the engine.

The '04 and up fuel system has a return but, it is not up at the engine like on the old style fuel system. The regulator is in the tank now. It was said this was done for emissions reasons, something about the fuel staying cooler by not circulating it all the way to the engine and back.

I believe the 04 are a returnless fuel system. Oh and your fuel pressure regulator is on the drivers side of the engine. near the fuel railk, kind of gold in color with a small vacume line going to it. About the pic above That is your EVAP solonoid. Not really sure what that does. Im sure some others will chime in.

There isn't a regulator there, my tahoe has one but not this one. So the fuel pressure is just what ever the pump out put is? Here is a pic of the drivers side view.

I have 43lb injectors that I haven't installed yet and was thinking I will probally need another fuel pump (for boosted application), then I started thinking about this regulator issue. If in fact it is in the tank I hope I can replce the fuel pump with a walhbro unit like the other years. Any ifo out there?

Maybe BlownChevy could chime in on replacing the fuel pump with a walboro. Magnacharger has a drop in replacement setup but, they don't sell it seperately.

My bad the regulator is in the tank, keep thinking of my old 99 on the 04 its in the tank, in the pump module. I have added a pic for you.
