if you were planning to due mods you should of just got a tune by 1 of our sponsers, they could off re-flashed you stock pcm for the sixoh and tunned for the mods, IMO , read and leard as much and i mean as much as you can, you might save yourself alot and i mean alot of $ , those $36 buck you did not get screwed but you really dont need it ! like i said you just need to get ur stock pcm re-flashed! godd luck , and learn as much as you cam b4 you buy!

Thanks for the advice, lord knows I'm gonna need it as I'm a diesel mechanic trying to figure all of this stuff out. I thought though if i bought another PCM I could have it flashed,tuned and ready when I put this motor in (in a year or so! LOL) because this truck is my lifeline and I can't afford to have it down for a long time.

You'll need to wait until you get your parts picked out for your motor before you get a tune, your heads, cam, everything will make a difference in what the tuner does with the tune

 

yeah this is going to be a pretty big project for me as i'm a diesel mechanic and this is like reading a different language. thanks for the help though I'll be needing a lot of it as this projest grows because the mor more threads that I read, the more I think that's what I need to do.

 

found a 6.0 long block for $1000. worth it?

 

depending on the miles its a fare price! how many miles? and what year and what is it out off ? you wanna try to get and lq9 couse its the 6.0 HO , it come out of escalades ans silverado ss, and if its an lq4 then try for it to come out of a 04 and up denali ,

 

It has 118k and it is out of a van. I'm sure that it's an LQ4. I hav e dumb question though. What's the actual difference between the LQ9 and LQ4? Can a guy get a 6.0 short block and make it an HO?
