Isn't that lift a little high? And wouldn't the lsa, higher be better for low end? Something like 116 or so.

the 117.5 LSA from what i've been told and seen on the boards is better for higher end power, my 112 makes awesome low end and the top is insane

BigTex, did you advance it like you say to? I just bought this cam and am wondering if its a good buy or not or if I should go custom.

yeah but when you travel over 200 miles going anywhere from 80 to 90 while towing, it tends to dig in the ol' pocket book

I bought a Comp 212/218 .522/.529 114. I talked with Mark, aka Smok_Ur_5.0, and he did say to go with a cam lighter than his 215/215. His truck still feels awesome with that cam running a stock converter. He said that the 212/218 should yield even better low-end. I didnt really want to spring for a new verter yet and thats why I got the 212/218. Plus alot of other people said the cam produced some nice gains on stock tune. But ran even better after a good tune. The Comp 206/212 .515/.522 112 should be a bit stronger on low-end. I just dont want the lope and tuning time that comes with that cam.

For every 10points of Duration you are generally adding 500rpm to your peak power. Or at least that's how the generaly rule of thumb goes.

The lower your LSA the lower in your RPM band the power will be made generally speaking.

By advancing the cam you make a higher LSA act like a lower LSA. Sounds backwards doesn't it?

But all of thesed things come together and different combos of these #s will yield slightly different results.

Please correct me if I am wrong here.

Good info for us cam newbies F8LPONY and BIGTEX! Where can you get an adjustable timing chain and what do they typically cost?

F8LPONY - The key to what you stated is the Intake Closing Line. This is the point where the intake valve closes and starts building pressure. An earlier close means more pressure and more low end torque, a later close allows more air charge momentum at high rpms for more power. When most guys say a 112 LSA has more low end compared to a 116, they neglect the ICL. A 112 w +2 advance has a 110 ICL, but a 116 +2 advance has a 114 ICL. If you give that 116 a +6 advance, it would have a 110 ICL and more low end. With the 112 +2 and 116 +6 cams having the same ICL, the 112 will have a peaky power range while the 116 will have a more broad range with slightly less peak numbers. -- > The stock LS6 cam has a 116 LSA an -2 advance, or a 118 ICL. Advancing it 4 or 6 degrees will really boost its low end, yet it will still idle like stock and pull to 6000+.

I think I'm going to order a custom comp on a 116.

I have a rollermaster double timing chain from www.sdpc2000.com it is adjustable and sold at a good price.
