Default 01 zo6 cam for pulling

After I get my tune from Nelson and getting some times from the track my truck is going back to a tow rig. I was thinking about changing the gears to 3.73 and the cam to a 01 ls6 cam. How would this cam work for pulling about 8000 lbs? We had opening at this track this weekend so I have the fever.

Bad idea.

You dont gain squat till after 4500rpms.

I'd go with a custom ground cam that increases TQ more than HP. With the Z06 cams you get a bunch more HP waaay up high but you barely gain any TQ.

get a custom grind like a 215/215 .555 112, someone dynoed with that cam and made quite a bit more low end torque and a ton better high end.

Actually, smoke_ur_50 installed the 215/215 cam and said it might be a little too much.

You can use the 01 LS6 cam with an adjustable timing chain. Advance it 4* to prop up the low end. It will idle like a baby. My 01 LS6 cams gains were all in the upper range, and it started pulling harder from 2500+. Anything below that wasn't great.

Isn't that lift a little high? And wouldn't the lsa, higher be better for low end? Something like 116 or so
