The Yukon NVG4500 Manual Transmission Swap Thread

Probably a performance shop. Id be "interviewing" who ever was going to be working on it and explain exactly what you want. Most all of this is bolting up stock parts from other gm vehicles but like all projects sometimes you got to get creative. sometimes it takes extra work.

No real updates here. Been driving the beast through DC traffic quite a bit lately. Haven't been feeling like hopping on the bike lately.
Clutch is still great. Drives great. Zero problems at all. Atomic bracket still kicking ***. Did some VE tuning and got it a bit smoother. Its a real monster and that deep first really helps you poke around at 5 MPH in rush hour traffic. Stop and go. The torque is so brutal it almost makes driving my other cars feel like a let down. I think it scares people to see a mom looking SUV blow its tires off while rolling down the street. :-D

Same! MIne has been a blast to drive. No problems with the transmission. I think I'd want to do this on any truck I owned now. I just got my exhaust run yesterday. Sounds mean. I got dual 3" all the way back through a magnaflow with the X-Pipe built in. I have one question, though, does anyone know what it takes to get reverse lights working? I haven't played with it yet. Is it as simple as adding power and one of the wires off of the 4l60e harness to the switch on the side of the trans?

We have vehicle inspection in VA so I had to get the R lights working ASAP. What I did is take a fused factory 12v source and ran it directly down to the R switch on the drivers side of the tranny. I think the OEM harness already had one but I had removed all the automatic wiring already. Then I ran from the other side of the R switch up into the cab. Connected that to the "backside" of the BCM. There was a 6way black connector on the BCM. Hooks up to LT GRN pin F Backup Lamp Supply Voltage.
This basically takes the BCM out of the picture. My understanding is that this BCM needs to see a coded message from the PCM that it is in N R or D. It doesn't take the simple discrete output of yesterday.
Been doing a lot of part hauling lately so I am temping to get rid of my Yukon and get a 2500 truck or SUV. There is a guy down the street with a 2002 Avalanche 2500 for sale for like 3500 bucks so its tempting to get that but I put so much work into this one.

I wish I had the funds right now to get one that has this part of the project already completed. I hope you two or anyone else who might have one of these for sale, PM me PLEASE if you are putting it up or a link to the sale thread would be great, (thank you). I would at least like to follow the thread if its not in the budget. I would put my pickup for sale immediately if this was an option to replace it with. This was going to be my next project vehicle when the budget gets friendlier for a second vehicle, but no down time sure would change things.

when you were looking into t-case details, did you ever run across anybody who'd swapped the Borg Warner for a NP149?
that'd make a difference in what year i'd look for ,should i go down this route: https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...calade-555468/
