Default Yea another gear question..

Have the amazing G80 on its last leg right now, truck came with 3.73s
and im running a 30" tire..(that may change later with 20s,not sure yet)

It's gonna get a trutrac and yukon gears this week, and im stuck between 3.73/3.90/4.11

If i used the calculator right, im turning right at 2000 @70 mph with my 3.73s

3.90s would be right around 2100 @70
4.11s would be right around 2250/2300 @70

My biggest thing is freeway driving, and my handful of beach trips i take a year, I don't wanna be annoyed with it turning somewhat hard for 160ish miles.

I also dont wanna kill gas too much, but ive heard thats only around a 1mpg loss.so that no that big of a deal

Also i daily drive this thing, and it gets little to no track time.

Go gimme some opinions.

Plans for any other mods? Cam, heads, boost? That will affect your gear choice...but just from looking at the way you use your truck and your fuel economy concerns, I'd just stick with your current 3.73's

future mods will be a basic h/c/lq4 for awhile then procharged 370, lee yer crazy, 4.11 is my limit lol..as for fuel economy,if i only lose 1mpg on the hwy and nothing in town like ive heard, thats no big deal, im just not sure if im gonna be annoyed with it turning that hard(loud) on long trips/freeway time

:edit: also wanna confirm my truck has the 8.6 and not the 8.5 rear right?

Procharger? That'll get you moving, stick with the 3.73's...

n/a or nitrous can't go wrong with the 4.30 or 4.56 with your tire size imo. i have a 30" tire with 4.56 gears and get 19-20mpg

yours should have the 8.6 rear. i have 4.10's with 33" and i turn almost 2200 just a little under at 70 but i only get 12-13 mpg but its 4 dr and of course "canned" tune so it would be better with a live tune hope this helps ya a little

im only gonna be n/a for a bit(well prob atleast a year long bit ) then going boosted, and i might be going to a 26-28" tire here shortly, and thats pretty damn good gas mileage,i get about that with the cruise at 70 with 3.73's
