WTF is wrong with my tortion bars
I just went out to the garage to see if I could drop the front end by turning the torsion keys 7 turns out to lower it. Well, I got 3 turns and it woulndt go any farther! I never changed them on this truck but I bought it used completly stock. I measured from the ground to the wheel well and got 36 1/8''. What do some of you other Z71 guys have when stock with stock 265/75/16's on??? It looks like my passenger side bolt is turned out a lot farther than the drivers side yet they are sitting the same height. Mabye they are already turned out all the way? But I thought I could go another 1 1/4'' on them and remove my blocks in the rear to go 2'' lower there too. My back wheel well measures 36 7/8 but I would like to make it 35 or so and same with the front. Anyhow, your help would be appreciated guys! Thanks!

Sounds odd that they were that way from the factory but anyway, did you say both were the same height as far as wheel well height from level ground?
If they are, maybe something else is wrong.
I took out my 2" lift blocks and cranked my torsions down a little more than half way out from factory. My back is still a little higher than the front though. I'll measure it tomorow and post it up if I remember to.

Take a look at the blocks that the adjuster bolts are threaded through. If the keys are touching these blocks then that is as low as you can go with the front suspension unless you buy lowering keys. Lowering keys are indexed differently with the head on the torsion bar and will allow you to lower the front end further.

Also, make sure the truck is jacked up...if you don't, the LCAs will be pushing against the rubber "jouncers"<<GM 's term and won't be able to move any more. Guys that lower 4WDs using the t-bars usually cut the jouncers in half to free up more travel.

On my 4X4 I went in to get 265's and have my front end leveled out and I couldn't get one side to go the same as the other. The shop said that its not uncommon for old warn out torsion bars to do this. He told me that if I wanted to get my truck level I'd have to buy new bars then go from there. This might be your problem, I know your going down with your truck but it's probably the same effect. I could only get my truck to raise 1 1/2" when I wanted at least 2", to 2 1/4" lift to match the rear.
