Unhappy WOW...never seen so many bags of springs

alright so i just got my transgo HD2 reprogramming shift kit in today. i opened up the box and just saw a plethora of parts. i have the installation video that touch of evil mailed to me so i hope once i bust out the vhs it may clear some things up for me but there are an unbelievable number of parts and springs and washers and stuff in there. maybe i didnt know what to expect. im leaning to getting this kit professionally installed because i dont like to mess with the trans being its ancient for a 60e. how much do you think it will cost if anyone else has paid for it? not to mention the paper instructions appear extremely unclear. should be a good mod once its in. with zero washers in, how violent will the shifts be with this kit, vette servo and my upped line pressure? (this will only be going on for a short while until i get everything retuned with the cam)

If you get it done by a shop your prob lookin at like 275-350.
It's not as bad as teh parts look heh.
On the shift well considering your gears and cam and such it should make for a fun ride.I have one plate in mine with vette servo and upped line pressure. But i have 3.43 gears and stock cam....On a mild pedal like running first up to 30 it barks a mean second. Then on a WOT depends upon the road it will ethier grab or squal big time. With the gears in there i say a WOT is gonna be fun.

Call Transgo and they will fax you a set of directions. The printed directions will contradict the video in a few places (video is quite old). In these instances, follow the printed directions.

If you are slow and meticulous, you can do this on your own. Be prepared for a face full of tranny fluid, or a bunch running down your arm at minimum. You never quite forget your first taste of tranny fluid.

i just called Advanced racing dynamics and they said that they charge 200 for the install but if i get my cam and all parts and the retune done there they will give me the transgo install for free. they are also throwing in before and after pulls and they have free wide band. they use EFI Live so ill be heading over there this month to get it all taken care of

How much are they charging you for the rest of it?

Once you get the Transgo kit in there you really need to put your shift pressures back to stock. Bone-jarring shifts might feel cool and barking the tires on part throttle shifts might sound cool, but nasty hard shifts like that typically mean shortened tranny life.
