how much your truck weigh corey , 4450? still think it should have held up. dunno man, it does suck, maybe there was a flaw in the parts that broke, do you know foresure it was the output shaft? i would think the input shaft would break before out put shaft? no
When I ordered my FLT Level 6-60E, I asked about the shafts. They told me that when a shaft breaks, 9 out of 10 times it would be the output shaft. That's why I went with the billet output shaft when I had mine built.

It's so much easier to swap a 2WD to an 80E than it is a 4WD. IMO, if there are any doubts at all, go 80E and never look back!

It was definatly shifting hard that night it broke. I saw your first two runs and it was definatly wraping the axle some on the 1-2 shift.. With your power level and weight it should have not broke. Im still surprised mine is still together but then again it doesnt see many dig runs.

If you've got plans for bigger power like a turbo or spray I'd just go ahead for the 80E.... FWIW, I loved the stockish 80 I had behind my stockish 4.8....

Honestly though I think a 60/65/70 built properly built should be able to hold in your setup without an issue.. I am going to try this one in mine but the first time it let's go for even the most minor issue it will be getting an 80E no questions asked.

I think in a truck with a 4l60E that is being abused it should five pinion planets and a billet output shaft. In your case Corey yours would still be rolling if you had these parts. With these low budget "built" and "well marketed" units when the hard parts break.........well you get my point. The 4l80E is a good option and the hard parts hold up pretty well. Don't kid yourself guys 80's break to and need to be serviced as well. Like anything else if you beat the dog sooner or later its going to bite you!

damn!!! Im having issues as well. I have had several phone conversations with Frank and he has been VERY helpful. Im just so busy with work its taking me a while to pull the trans. Hopefully I will have it out by this weekend and send it off. If I have issues again i think im going the 80e route.

I have never run my truck down the strip (although I want to....curious on what numbers I could get) but on EFI Alchemy's dynojet I was putting 285hp/315tq. I would think I would be well within the 60e capabilities.

I think with the nice TQ curve you have, an 80e will be a good swap. Its just more expencive to build. If I have any trans issues with this setup, I will go 80e as well.

i run a 4l80 NA and i love it for the most part, i have a 3600 converter and a big tranny cooler, other than that its a stock trans, the only thing i dont like about the 80e is the converter locking and unlocking every time you get below 2% throttle

Thats a common complaint that can be helped but not completely resolved I believe. There's a table that EFILive has that i think HPT doesnt that allows you to keep the converter locked on coasting. beyond that, you'd have to put a toggle on the lockup circut and control it manually.
