Default Whine in the Drivetrain

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3, 4L60 Auto Trac 3.42 years and 295/70R17 Nittos.

When driving down the highway on the throttle I can hear a wine ( you can hear it when your at 1500 or more RPMs but the sound never changes w/ speed). you can be going 40 or 100 and the whine is the same tone/pitch. If you let off there's no wine. It makes the noise in 2 wd or Auto 4, does not change the sound, if you rev it in neutral while going down the road it DOES NOT wine. Just when your on the gas and the throttle position doesn't matter. I can't hear the wine past 2,100 RPM but I think that's due to engine noise.

Any ideas?

I have an 02 with an NV-3500 mines been doing it for a few years, a few not so bright people thought it was a turbo. It's been bugging the hell out of me for years not knowing what it is. Does yours sound like it's more on the right side? I thought it might have been the tranny but since we both have diffrent types it has me really wondering. Maybe it's the driveshaft?

I was honistly thinking ring and pinion but it doesn't vary with speed like a bad rear end would. Who knows.

Did you ever find out what the problem was? I have a 2 wheel drive and have a very similar sounding problem. If not, does anyone have any feedback on this?

Thanks
