What would you do??

I have 80K miles on my completely stock original transmission. Based on all of the horror stories I have heard, I have been expecting my tranny to go for the last 20K miles or so, but so far so good. Not so much as one sloppy shift or anything.
The troubling thing is, I have a TT3000 converter that's been sitting on the garage floor for the last year that I never installed. My fear was that I would install it with a shift kit and servo, and 2 weeks later it would go out.
What would you do? Go ahead and replace it with a FLT 65E with stall, install the verter with old tranny, or leave it alone until it blows?

if you do the converter and shift kit and you blow the trans you run the risk of breaking both and wasteing money. trust me done it. thats why im going with the 80e. But it is a lot of work and money.

IMO, stay stock for now and save the money up for a new/built tranny and then install your parts. And 80k miles isn't anything to worry about. I have over 146k miles on mine and drive pretty hard. Of course, it's all stock and I have a tranny cooler.

I don't think I'd install the parts in a trans that is going to pop any time soon. But then again, if you don't plan on doing much more modding to the truck, I'd throw the parts in it and a good service and get a few more miles. Really comes do to if you have the money I guess.

"If you don't have the time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over."This quote is from a sign in our local machine shop. If you're not sure of the trans don't put the new stuff in it. Get the new trans and try to sell the stock one to get some of your money back
