Default What standard transmissions will fit into 1993 4x4 truck with a 5.0

I need to know what transmissions will fit in the place of a nv3500 5 speed in a 1993 1500, (it has to be a standard transmission) .
I found a good deal on a 4 speed but I'm not sure if it will work.
Thanks

Im looking for any good priced replacement, I don't have any proformance in mind. I just want an idea of what transmissions I can use without modification.
my truck doesn't have many kms only 125xxx on it but the previous owner had put the wrong transmission oil in it and the it rattles when you let out the clutch. makes noise in gear and the synchros aren't felling great.

Itd be cheaper to remove that one, ship it to someone to be rebuilt and ship it back and install it. Zero modifications to anything....good chance that if you change to a different transmission you'll have to mod something else, then something else, and it snowballs from there.

not necessarily... i direct-swapped my nv3500 for an nv4500 and only required a new clutch, reverse switch, & shifter (flywheel, slave, driveshaft, crossmember [rotated 180°], and transfer case all bolted right up).

that said - you'll have to do a bunch of research on the different variants of transmissions... if i remember right, 93 was around the time they made some changes to the nv3500 (yours might actually be a 5LM60), and the nv4500s went through a number of changes as well (gearing, top covers, internal/external slaves), so you want to doubly-verify the configuration you have & what is compatible. the ZF-S6-650 could also work with a body lift & some minor changes, but it's a behemoth & way overkill for a half-ton!

so yes - the easiest is a direct replacement, but there are a couple easy swaps out there; you just have to do a lot of reading. i'm personally unfamiliar with any of the 4 speed options, but i do know the nv4500 basically drives like a 4 speed unless you have something heavy requiring 1st.

That would be a good option, I do believe I have a nv3500 it has the internal slave cylinder.
Thanks for the feedback!
