Default What Converter

I am looking at getting a torque converter at was just looking for some advice on which one to get, where to get it, install tips, and if i would need to get the truck tuned for it to work?

I have a 1999 RCSB 4.8 with the Whipple Charger, LS1 heads and cam, built tranny and 3.73 gears. The truck has never been dyno tuned and is running on Whipple's CRAPtronics. I am eventually going to put a 6.0 in it but it will be a while before that happens. What kinda gains in the 1/4 mile can i expect?

Well for starters I think that a stall from around 2800 to about 3000. I have been told that a stall around these are still good daily drivers. Personally I am going with a 3000 stall in mine. As far as name brands I would only go with 3 Yank, Precision Industries, and TCI. They are all three good torque converters. The yank and the PI are a little more expensive running around 700 while the TCI is about 450. Knowone on hear has ever complained about any of them. I am going with TCI because I can get a shift kit and a tranny cooler for the a lesser price than the Yank and PI. I think you will be happy with either of them.

Yank or PI 2600-3000 stall and get a tune. The best thousand bucks you'll ever spend.

I dont think that you really need a tune with the verter, but if you get a shift kit then you probley will since it will mess with the shift point a little bit.
