Default What causes failure of the 1-2 shift on the 4L60E?

In a 4L60E, where would you start in diagnosing failure of the mechanism that enacts 2nd gear? My tranny is at the shop that rebuilt the stock version last October. After a road test, they feel that the band is burnt. Tear down will be in the morning. I am just wondering what I should accept as the reason for this after 12 months and all of 7000 miles have been put on the tranny. Do the bands just fail that quickly? Or is there an adjustment that needs to take place in the valve body? The tranny was rebuilt with all new parts - 5 pinion planetary, kevlar bands, z-pac clutches, Superior shift kit, etc. ANY info would be glady received...

Hey bro i had the same problem. Well kind of my truck would stick in third and wouldn't get out of third at all unless i turned the truck off and waited thirty seconds then turned it back on. then and only then would it shift from first on through all the gears. I got the info at http://www.library.alldatapro.com . This problem is common and it usually means that a sensor or an seolinoid is bad. The problem is not planetary. Check it out at the above mentioned website.
