Default Vette servo In high mileage trans, and trans fluid question

Would installing a vette servo in my high mileage trans hurt anything? The truck is my daily driver(02 ecsb Sierra 5.3/4l60 with 170k miles) and I just want to make sure the vette servo won't hurt my reliability.

Also, I bought the truck used and have no idea if/when the trans was ever serviced. Should I change the fluid and filter or just leave it alone because it isn't giving me any problems? If I change the fluid what kind should I use? Would something like royal purple help or just use regular old trans fluid?

The servo wont hurt the tranny. If anything it will prollly help it hold out longer. I would change the fluid and filter but thats just me. im always up to date with my maintenance. Some people say just leave it if it hasnt been serviced. and from what i hear its best to just use the reg trans fluid. But maybe some trans experts will chime in

depends on what condition the fluid is in. if its still mostly red i wouldn't hesitate to change it. if its brown or darker, i wouldn't touch that trans in any way.

i wouldnt hesitate to install a vette servo in a high mileage transmission. and i would service it with regular fluid and change the filter even if the fluid is a little burnt. everyone has their own methods when it comes to maintaining a transmission and im not saying mine is 100% correct but if it is acting fine change the fluid and if it is acting up have a reputable shop repair it or order a new one from a pt.net sponsor.

On the fluid question, I am by no means a professional, but I have had really good luck with B&M trick shift. My friend had a monster tranny that was on its way out (go figure) and he replaced his fluid with the trick shift and it ended up lasting about a year longer and the slipping nearly stopped. On the other side of it, i know alot of our sponcers here say to only run the fluid your truck is supposed to have from the factory.

It would be worth it if you tow alot..The 4th servo puts more holding pressure on the band while in 4th/OD..Ive had the Sonnax billet 4th in 3 of my trucks with out problems..

I don't do a whole lot of towing but ~60% of my driving Is interstate so I figured the billet 4th servo would help out on the highway at cruse speeds
