Use conventional 80w-90 if you live in a cool climate or 85w-140 if you live in a hot climate. No friction modifier is needed.

I got my oil changed on Monday. It was actually difficult to find convential oil. I found some Valvoline High Performance, non-synthetic. I went with 75w-90 in the rear and 80w-90 in the front. Same gear oil as seen in the "PT.net Gear Install How-To", I figure it will do the job.

HA! Kansas weather in the last 2 years has ranged from 118 in June 2012 to -26 in February 2011. Can't really do anything around here based on climate, except wait for it to change.

No clutches in a tru trac either and i know how they work thanks... hence why i would never buy one... Eaton specifies conventional in any of their units actually. ... beyond the gov junk that they also build for gm. The locker is spring loaded gears and they give the same friction bunk statement like the tru trac. They say the stupid too slippery thing causing poor engagement. Has anyone ever even tried synthetic on here or not.

I have read multiple posts where people have sited that synthetic caused their true Trac to not operate properly. No need to get offended and defensive...

Stop reading emotion that isn't there, lol. People also say the locker isn't streetable which is also pure b.s. hence why I asked for real world problems, not forum board gossip. If it does not work oh well... Sucks having to rely on inferior fluid so your limited slip will sorta work.

wow, you got some pent up aggression toward the true Trac... one must have really treated you bad in the past. thanks for editing your post so you don't completely trash my new equip because you love your locker that much. I didn't want a locker, so I went with a "finicky problem prone pos" and "inferior fluid"...

I tried to find the thread(s) where people were having issues with their Truetrac with synthetic oil, but in my search it seems like a lot of people are running synthetic in theirs, I'm guessing without issues. So who's running synthetic?
