Default TRUCOOL FLUSH TRU COOL 40K. Is it possible. New built trans and verter.

I just finished building the 80e and installed the verter. the question is can I flush the trucool. I thought the trucool 40k cooler was the round tube type that goes from one end to the other but after looking at the box I see that the cooler is a flat tube type with "crosshatching". I did flush 2.5 large cans of tranny line flush through there (1.25 cans each way)as well as a can of brake cleaner. THe fluid did come out clear and the cooler ports are facing down so I would think all of the trans flush/brakekleen came out. Still I will probably run 4 more cans of brakleen and a few trans flush. then run hot water through my pressure washer and attach a line to the cooler for a good 20 mins both ways. After this I will bake it for 45 mins at 250. Does this sound overkill? Or is there no hope in saving the cooler? I only ran the bastard for 500 miles or so.

In the time bein, the factory cooler had 2 cans of brakleen ran through it, high pressure HOT water ran through it for 10 mins. It is now soaking in Dawn with hot hot water and will be for a few hours. Would this one be salvageable as well

I know Jake (smokeshow) went through a trans and I believe he had a trucool. Maybe he will post up if he cleaned his or had to get a new one.

Thanks guys!

It would seem to me that you haven't stated one important point. Why are you doing this?

Did you lose a converter or something similar?

Oh and if it isn't a good Idea to run either cooler what about taking the factory tranny cooler lines and connecting them. I gotta make a 30 mile drive today. I do have a tranny temp gauge so i will pull over if it gets past 195-200. Or I might just borrow my brudah's cooler.

Best option would be to keeep the trucool if it is salvageable.

Let me know

do they know you have a trucool though? I read somewhere that these coolers are very hard to clean.

Personally if I have a major failure like that Im going to replace the cooler completely, for $150 and your time/effort flushing the old one its easier to get new IMO. It would suck to get your new goodies in there and it take a dump on you because of the cooler. You might be able to sell the old one to someone on here who isnt as worried about trashing their setup. Thats just me though and Ive got bad luck.

I agree, a new cooler is peanuts compared to the cost of a new tranny. And also peace of mind.
