Default Transmission/ext housing mating issue

Guys... I've been fighting this for nearly a month now, and I'm about at my wit's end. I've got a pretty substantial trans leak where the ext. housing mates to the transmission, it's my fault, I overtorqued the bolt and pulled the threads out. Well this weekend I pulled it all apart and heli coiled it... it's still leaking. So I figured I'd run this by you guys before just doing it. Is it going to hurt anything if I run a bead of RTV and make a gasket there? It's about the only thing left I can think of that may be able to fix my issue.

Thanks guys.

If you take it apart & can't see anything else wrong, I think a small bead of sealant might be a good idea.

Check it really closely for small cracks while it's apart.

Denton is the same vehicle in your sig with the vibration? If so check that housing as mentioned above. I have seen them crack in the past as well. Also make sure there is an oring on that housing going into the trans. If you need a new one just let me know. I think I might have a few laying around. Vince
