Default Transmission cooler lines

How do the cooler lines run from the transmission? Does it go through the radiator first then the cooler or the other way? Why does it go through the radiator at all ? Just wondering cause I was pulling a camper through Colorado and it was causing my transmission to get to 220 degrees and then my truck was getting up to 230. I have a Trucool cooler but it was not enough I guess.

I think it goes radiator then to the cooler. It runs through the radiator to warm up the fluid in cold climates. If that isn't a problem for you you could bypass it

yea it runs thru the radiator to warm it up like mentioned.

Bypass it and see how your temps do.

It has nothing to do with warming the fluid up.

It runs through the radiator first because it pulls the heat out faster in fluid then in open air.

Air has a lower heat capacity and density than liquid coolants.

We will see today. Going to put stainless tubing valves on a bypass loop. I will be able to bypass or go through the radiator when ever I feel the need with a quarter turn of a valve.
