I would have to agree. After you take it somewhere else it is kind of hard for them to do anything for you. Good luck with the new trans. Vince

4l80e. That's what I'm doing. I'll put up with it being slower if that means I get reliability. Spending what you've spent on that transmission is just horrible IMO.

Circle D Specialties is a different company than Circle D Transmission. They were both started by my dad eons ago but have separated to 2 different entities. I now own the Converter side - Circle D Specialties.

Circle D Transmission is a very capable trans shop, and have many different levels for the 60e like most other sponsors. I think they have always been very fair with circumstances like this and I wish you would have brought it back to us. I am not sure of all the circumstances and maybe I am missing some details. I am not sure what they will do now after the fact.

If you want to shoot me a PM to discuss what happened in further detail, be happy talk.

I have re-read this thread and still at a loss of why you did not bring it back to the trans shop. Please get in contact with me, I need to know what is going on.

Chris, the truck was broken down at my house in Arlington Texas, 3-4 hours away from Houston. Royce didn't have time to find a towing company or rent a trailer to get it back down there as it was completely immobilized, and had class the next day and could not afford to wait.

He took another vehicle down to Houston and the truck was towed to a transmission shop his family had used in the past, to be examined and determine what the problem was, and to be repaired.

I have spoken with Royce, and from what he understood from the shop is that a snap ring (or something of that nature) must have let loose and wreaked havoc inside the transmission, eating up the input drum and burning the clutches.

If he had the time/resources to get it down there, it wouldn't have been a problem as he had spoken with them and it was still under their warranty. The problem was getting it down to Houston, and unfortunately he wasn't able to do that at the time and had to go another route.

Man, ya'll make it sound like Circle-D was in the wrong here... They don't seem to be. Failures happen in transmissions, even FLT and Performabilt have failures where a little piece lets loose.

This would have been the same situation with a Performabilt or FLT transmission that was needed back on the road immediately.

Nobody is blaming anyone for anything. The transmission was under warranty. It should've been fixed for free but the truck was nowhere near their shop at the time it blew up. I have no doubts circle-d would've fixed it under warranty if the truck was in houston or near by, we were told that over the phone that it was under warranty still.

I personally don't think a transmission built to those specs should've gone down that quickly. It's a quick truck but it's not that powerful. I understand what you're saying that it can happen with anything, but isn't the point in paying these companies thousands of dollars to make sure that kind of thing doesn't happen?

what scott says is true about not being able to get the truck down to houston.

i wanted to get it towed down there, but i didnt have time, and my dad pretty much took care of everything to his own liking

i am not saying anything negative towards circle D. i think they are a great and very reasonable shop, i just did not have the time or resources to have the truck towed all that way.

I'm sorry for any confusion Chris, and just to let you know, i will still be sending my transmission there to have it completely built up when i begin the frame up rebuild and nitroused 370 later this year.

OK, Cool. It is all coming clear now. I wish we could of helped, but I understand the circumstances. Looking forward to the next one.
