installing the converter tomorrow....those who have done this on 4wds is it easier to remover the torsion bar cross member or remove the transfer case from the tranny? not trying to cut corners just don't want to end up getting extremely angry.

just drop the front of the trans and pull the old one and put the new one in and dont take the t-case off or the cross member.

 

blue06....can you do that? from what i understand you cant get the tranny dropped low enough without the transfer without hitting the torsion crossmember

 

I tried it and couldn't. The top of the trans would come down toabout 1/2 the flywheel and hit.

 

well....i guess ill try it and see.....if i cant get it then ill take the transfer case off. geeez this isnt a fun project to do yourself if its your daily driver. i had to ride my bike to work today....only about a mile...thanks god. although someone did yell "morman!" at me. that will be the last time i ride my bike wearing dress clothes!

 

I've done it both ways. Taking the t-case off is much easier IMO. Only takes about 20 minutes or so, and there's no suspension to re-adjust when you put it back on.
