Default Trans Temp Guage for 03 and up

I talked to a guy on the phone today that has the parts for the Trans Temp Guage itself, Motor, Needle, New Overlay, and Light. All for $75, including shipping , Not bad at all. But not sure how much he would charge to install, because I will be soldering it in myself. But he said something about downloading a file into the cluster to make it work, Not sure if the dealer could do that or not. He said that he would charge $50 for the file install including shipping back the cluster to you. Now what I was thinking of doing is getting the parts and seeing if it works for the hell of it, But does anyone know for sure it will not work without the file?

This is for the 2003-present models, he has the stuff for the 99-02 but I did not ask, I can if there is intrest in that too.

Thanks, I can talk to him and see if he wants to do a group purchase on this because I know that I am not the only one that wants the guage too.

Let me know if this is somethink you would be intrested in

I think I would prefer the escalade cluster? I've seen the many DIY threads on putting in your own autometer gauge. Looks easy enough... But for $125 for a custom jobby, or <$300 for a factory looking piece..

I think the extra cost is justified to an extent. But there is nothing wrong with being froogle and having the philosophy of function over form.

I bought that kit from some place online over a year ago. Solder it in, new overlay and you have the factory gauge. NO FILE REQUIRED.

It will be just as goos as the factory piece, and will have all of the settings and mileage untouched. Then for a little more I can put any overlay and bezel on for the custom look. I do like the Escalade cluster but for $300+ dollars and still have to spend $$ to have Mileage changed and stuff, Just doesn't do it for me. And If someone wants just the guage then its really alot cheaper then getting a new cluster.

Trans Temp Guage - $75
Guage Face - $89
Guage Trim - $74.99
Red Needles - $54.95
I think This would look better then the Escalade cluster.

No file, really? Well I will try it and see if I need the file or not.

When I do this I can do a write up if anyone is intrested. Unless the ones out there are good enough.

I can get the escalade cluster for 250 WITH mileage and hour meter transfer. The whole ball of wax. But it sound slike you have a good plan there. Just wanted to point out that solstice electronics sells them for under 300 shipped with everything done already.
