I have an 01 RCSB 5.3 Sierra and I am considering changing from the auto to a 5 Speed. Other than pedals and flywheel what all else is reguired to do the swap, and has anyond done this?

The 5 speed is weaker than the 4l60e. If you want a manual tranny. You should go with a 6 speed.

agreed I dont think that you want to do a 5 speed in there, maybe a 6-speed.

I am with the others....The 5 speed is a waste of time and money. There is a guy on here that did the 6speed swap.....I am having a moment and can not remember his user name.....

1TRUESS and 6Gears did it. I was going to go that route, but I think if found me and 80E. Let me know if you have any other questions. But if you did go with a T-56 (6speed) you can use the clutch master from the standard trucks get a slave from a 98 and up 6 speed and us the clutch and the flywheel from a 98 and up 6 speed.

I appreciate it guys. I'm not looking for the racing aspect if having a manual I just like them better for towing and such. I will have to start looking around for some stuff.
