trans oil pump!!
#1
well my trans oil pump went out for the second time!
This time it took the snout on the converter too. Is there anyone else that has had problems with this? I dont know why i keep having this problem, both times it went out just driving down the road. who makes a good pump for a decent price?

There are a lot of things that need to be checked, that I bet are getting overlooked. Converter spacing, pump slide measurments, rotor measurments, etc. I've had a few break on me, but it's not really a common problem. If your using quality parts and setting it up right, you shouldn't have a problem.

Iv always had the guy at the local trans shop do all the trans work, as far as spacing i know its vary close to were it should be. I guess all im asking is are the stock pump weak? i spin it to 7k so im not shur if thay just dont like the rpm or should this never happen?

Does it have stock pump rings? There are aftermarket pump rings that are designed to rev past 5500 rpm. Whats actually breaking on them? I wouldn't consider the pump weak, as long as it's built right.

The pump is all stock, and i havent taken it apart this time yet but looking at what it did to the converter i bet its the same thing again, the first time it broke in three spaces between the vains and it came apart and locked up.
