Default Trans Coolers what ones work best?

I have a 3400 PI converter in my truck with a 35in tires and I run it in the sand most of the time. Trans gets really hot really quick, whats the biggest best cooler that you guys can suggest to get for it? I already have a Derale Plate and fin style with a fan and it cant keep it under 250-275, so I dont get much time to drive it cause it gets hot so fast. I am thinking about 2 11x5x2 with a fan and mount them about my intercooler behind the grille? What do you guys have/recomend that would cool it down?

I'm not sure 2 inline coolers are gonna be the best way to go. I think I read on performabuilts FAQ that it messes with the tranny pressures. But I 2nd the tru cool 40,000. I've got it in my truck and even on 100 degree days down here in Texas, my temps don't get above 150 even when I romp on it hard.

+1 on the tru-cool, but if that guy is not big enough, there are some allison tranny coolers that are even bigger...

Sending you a PM with a link on bigger coolers.

This is correct, you don't want to drop pressure across 2 auxilary coolers...

Are any of you running just the TruCool 40k? and not running the radiator cooler at all?

Im swapping from 5 speed to 80e, i dont want to buy a new radiator and i am going to just run a biggerish auxilary cooler as my 1 primary.

I dunno if that thing will do what I need man, my **** gets hot in a heartbeat and I have a Derale cooler and my factory rad one with an electric fan and it still crazy hot, maybe it will do the trick. I dont ever have issues on the road its only in the sand, thats the only problem I dont wanna do this again! If you guys say so, ill give it a try.

I believe I was the first to run the tru-cool back in the day(4ish years ago) and I had nothing but good results from it. I ran it straight from the trans with a 4K stall, and towing, in the Texas heat the hottest I ever got it was 200*s beating on it down on the beach in the sand drags time after time with the 418. It works great, once I got it up close to 200*s Id take on an easy 1/2 mile drive and then go run another race.

Mine was without the bypass, FWIW I never had problems with the non bypass model even in northern AL with 20* temps it would still get up to 140ish*s cruising.
