Default trans cooler with fan...

was wondering if a trans cooler with fan would be more efficient then the tru-ko0l 40k... the reason why i ask is because i dont do alot of highway driving and i plan on doing alot of offroad driving after i get my lift... IE not alot of airflow... so i was wondering what route i should take... am i wrong about airflow? will it cool enough without moving or offroad? i have an 05 CHEVY AVALANCHE 5.3 4l60E

Are you using the stock converter??? If yes id say just stick a 40k on it and have at it...The efan on the truck should keep enough sir moving over it to keep it cool..

i plan on doing a small stall... maybe like the TBSS converter or something of the sort... havent decided yet... i will probably a converter when i get my gears to compensate for the 38 inch tires... know what i mean? to me right now i kickass cooler is 1st on my list before i start anything else... then will come the transgo kit and servos... then everything else...

so you are saying that a fan cooler combo is more effective than the TRU40k?

I have an avalanche with a 6.0 and long tubes also with a 2600 stall and I bought a B&M 11x13 cooler with the fan and it never gets hot enough to turn the fan on and I sit in stop and go traffic all the time even with the long tubes and a stall my tranny never gets over 175. You can get the fan for added insurance but I doubt it will ever kick on . I hope this helps your choice

I was meaning just try the 40k first and that the cooling fan on the truck should keep enough air going over it..
I still think you'll be good on a close to stock converter..
