Tranny Wiring, Need Help!
#1
Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me identify a signal from the pcm. This schematic is from a 2005 8.1L motor to a Allison tranny, I am trying to figure out what the torque response reply signal is? On the tcm to pcm the same wire is called the throttle kick down signal. Does anyone know if it is just the kick down signal or is it something else. I'm trying to figure out where to get this input off a 2002 8.1L pcm but it does not have one, I was thinking it may be connected to the electric throttle body. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

After looking at the diagrams for my Cummins with Allision tranny it seems to only require a VSS and tach to operate as long as it is used with the digital shift selector. These computers seem to look the same either in a gm or medium duty truck. And looking in the shift tables it seems that using the base shift timing the tranny will operate only with vss and tach signals. The older allison's worked on mechanical diesels without any pcm inputs so it seems the new electronic trannys still have such features.

I think you are running into not a ton of guys over here are running allisons, or more importantly, not diving into their electronics. Hit up Whippled 496 on PM and see if he can point you in the right direction. Maybe he knows a site or 2 that could he more.
