Default tranny problems

my trans blew last week, i picked up a built one yesterday. trans is in and everything is hooked up but on the initial start up it blew fluid out of the drivers side pan gasket. i have another gasket im going to put in tomorrow hopefully it doesnt do it again, if it does its coming out and going back to the shop. the new trans has a vaccum regulator and the old trans doesnt and i didnt have the vaccum hooked up to it so im thinking thats what the problem might have been. does anyone know? also, the abs light came on when the old trans blew and is still on, what could have caused that? the only abs sensors are in the rear end housing and each front hub right? the truck rolls fine, the back tires spin normally with no noise or grinding so i know the rear end didnt come apart.

if it isnt one thing its another. thanks in advance for any help

If the vacuum modulator isn't hooked to vacuum then the trans will be at maximum line pressure, which will shift hard as hell. It will not cause a leak from the pan gasket. How bad was the leak? Did you overfill it? I would also check the pressure port plug on the drivers side, make sure its tight and not leaking, its right above the park neutral position switch.

i never took the truck out of park. i didnt over fill it, i only had 4 quarts in it plus what the converter held. the truck hadn't even idled down from start up and shot at least 3 quarts out covering the bottom of my truck and the driveway so it ran for MAYBE 2 seconds. the port plug didnt have any fluid on or around it, it was completely dry in that area.

Make sure the pressure tap fitting is there and its not coming from there . I can think of no condition under which fluid would spray out the gasket not even if the gasket was missing.
The fitting is just forward of the pan and above the linkage

The pan doesn't have any pressure in it, so any leak from the pan gasket, would just seep out. If it shot fluid out that quick, it has to be under pressure. If it isn't coming from the pressure port, then I not sure where else it could be coming from, maybe the case is cracked.

the plug i was looking at last night was a freeze plug i guess, the other pressure point was missing the bolt to plug it. got that straightened out and ran a vaccum line from the regulator to the pcv valve and added more fluid. the truck runs, drives and doesnt leak but it in first it feels like i am trying to drive with the emergency brake on, the truck wont move in first until about 2500rpm. and i think it has a manual valve body which both the builder and the guy i bought it from failed to mention and i DO NOT want that for a DD. im getting pretty frusterated with this and the cold isnt making things easier.

this is for my 02 with a 4l60e, 02silvy
