FLT (they should know) recommends Dex III only.

If its a stock tranny I wouldnt use a full syn. Thought a while back somebody posted it was too slick for the clutches, it would slip. Think it was Dave from Rock-On. Plus the builder of the tranny in my old truck said it was a no-no unless the right clutches were used.

dexron 6, at the least. that is what is in the new GM trannsmissions. i have called royal purple at least 5 times now in regards to a possible better formulated recipe for the dexron 6, and they told me that dexron 6 is the best out there right now - dont bother using royal purple atf or anything else for that matter. i even spoke with some of royal purple chemists who told me the same thing, so i would say go with the dexron 6 if you are staying with the same 4l70e type internals that apparently work best with the thinner dexron 6.

Mine took 12 including a new torque converter. I would have 14 on hand just in case.

Dexron xi do a quick search on the web and see what other people thjink of it
GM replaced dexron iii with dexron xi, it is backwards compatiable. I had the tranny flushed with XI and I have a little quicker shifting and firmer.
