Question Tranny Cooler with fan under truck?

I know some have put the tranny cooler (with fans) below the radiator and behind the spolier. Thought about trying a big Derale (with fan) tranny cooler tucked up underneath the truck with custom hoses. Anybody try this?... just wondering if the fan can provide sufficiant flow to keep the tranny cool.

High Performance 6 OR 8 AN Male Ports
Barb Adapter For Hose Clamps
16 Pass High Capacity Core
Anodized Billet Brackets
650 CFM 10" Reversible Turbo Fan
25,000 GVW
10" x 16" x 4 7/8"

... trying to make room up front for another project

Hmm... big tranny cooler undernieth.

Now why did my brain suddenly picture the radiator ram-scoop from a P-51 Mustang mounted under the truck.

Too bad the first big speed bump would kill it. but some sort of shrouding around the fan probably would allow it to breathe enough to work.

I know a couple of guys who run motorcycle fans on their coolers with a toggle switch and a temp guage. these are off roaders with plenty of room and ground clearence. just an idea if you have the room...

My friend has that same setup on his 02 dodge ram turbo diesel. Works like a charm and you can't even hear it run. He runs the trans fluid thru the front cooler then to the fan cooler then to the trans again. He did use braided lines to ensure the trans line was never cut while running down the road.

most of the guys here just upgrade the factory one with at least a 24k to 40k gvw cooler. that seems to work best for towing and higher stall converters with these trucks.

The reason why I want to relocate the cooler underneath the truck is because I plan on utilizing a substantial amount of room up front for a rather large Heat Exchanger with a fan(s) for my Maggie which would necessitate the removal of the external tranny cooler including removal of the loop through the radiator. I am looking for some experience of folks putting a (very large) cooler underneath the truck, say right by the tail shaft of the tranny, with a fan... and have the fan run off the fuel pump through a relay of course.
