You sure about that 7500? If you're going by the sticker in the door, that's the GVW which is the weight of the truck with it's full load capacity. I would think that your truck weighs more like 5700 at most...

Im laughing at the 7500lbs. It's like a dick measuring contest. That truck weighs about 5800lbs from GM.

Mine weighs ~ 6000 lbs.
I used to get ~ 9 to 12 mpg(US) depending on conditions towing 5000 lbs. @ 75 mph. Sometimes I was at 4500rpm in 2nd to maintain 50 mph up some of the longer and steeper grades.

The GVWR of the truck and total load is 8600 lbs.

The max trailer weight for a 4WD is 7900 lbs with 3.73 gears and 9900 lbs with 4.10 gears.

The GCWR of the truck and its total load and the trailer is 14000 lbs with 3.73 gears and 16000 lbs with 4.10 gears.

GM specs.

ya, try to look at the registration paper that you put in the glove box, it should have the curb weight. my 05 1500HD has a curb weight of 59XX but with the lift and tires i round up to 6000lbs also...
